Gery Deer presented 10 Elements of Audience Focused Content at WordCamp Dayton 2016 and all ten elements are pertinent for any writer, not just marketing or nonprofit professionals.

His presentation not only encouraged me to take a closer look at the quality of my professional content, but also to approach content as a part of my public relations strategy. Local reporters are busy, so Deer writes complete news features to publish rather than depend on a traditional media release to entice potential news coverage.

For my nonprofit job, I’m transitioning from new releases to news features, but looking for sites to post locally beyond our blog. Any suggestions or other strategies you recommend?
