Objective: To raise awareness about the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton’s mission and encourage the community to get involved by securing media placement for an article in the Dayton Daily News.
Challenge: To develop an article that resonates with the publication’s readership and showcases the organization’s achievements in a compelling way.
Solution:
CareSource employee and Dayton Boys and Girls Club Volunteer Hannah Krafka wrote an article titled “Kids in West Dayton Need School Supplies and More” for the Dayton Daily News column Make a Difference with a byline by Meredith Moss. Hannah highlighted the organization’s mission and the important role it plays in supporting the academic, social-emotional, and career readiness needs of youth in the community. The article also provided a list of school supplies and other items that the organization is currently in need of, and encouraged readers to support the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton’s upcoming SPARK fundraising event. Hannah volunteered her time to write and secure media placement for this article, resulting in a successful media placement in The Dayton Daily News Make a Difference Column.
Results:
The article won PRSA Dayton’s Gem City award in 2023 and Best in Show with a score of 93/100. The fundraiser achieved its highest level of donations to date, further enabling the organization to advance its mission and make a positive impact in the community. The media placement in the Dayton Daily News raised awareness about the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton’s mission and encouraged the community to get involved in supporting their cause.
